Anna Maria Island and Treasure Island: Which is Better?
Anna Maria Island and Treasure Island in Florida boast their own kind of paradise. As someone who has visited both spots for vacation, I can say that it is a challenge to choose between them. The islands offer an ocean that is dyed in a stunning, turquoise blue color.
However, one of the big differences between the islands is that one has more high-rise, commercial hotels than the other. But, there are several more things that will determine which island is best for you.
Here is a guide to Anna Maria Island and Treasure Island.
I have compiled a list of noteworthy aspects of Anna Maria Island and why the beautiful paradise may be your ideal vacation spot.
10 Reasons to Visit Anna Maria Island
Gorgeous Beaches
When I think of a perfect, laid-back place, Anna Maria Island comes to mind. Bradenton, Coquina, and Manatee Beach all have the white sand that the island is known for.
Even though the beaches are considered to be the ultimate getaway, it is generally less crowded and more peaceful than other Florida beaches.
However, many travelers have started to discover this piece of paradise, so I would recommend visiting between January and March for less crowded beaches, restaurants, and shops.
Florida’s True Getaway
Many beaches throughout Florida often fall victim to commercial hotels and tourist traps, but Anna Maria Island is sticking to the roots of old Florida.
As you drive on the island, there is a plethora of vacation rentals that have their own unique flare. Many of the vacation rentals are within walking distance of the beach.
But I have noticed that if you don’t book a vacation rental in advance, you will pay astronomical prices for them.
Stunning Sunsets
The best part about spending your time on Anna Maria Island is the inability to escape the sunsets. Whether you’re dining at a seafood restaurant or taking a cruise, the sunsets will forever stick with you.
I made an itinerary for my trip to the island that I think you might enjoy.
Local Art
Nearly every beach I go to, there seems to be an abundance of local art. Anna Maria Island is no exception with the area being a home for many artists.
They also find every opportunity to display their art for the world. Here are some of the murals that you might want to check out when you visit.

I’d have to admit that vacation rentals are becoming more expensive during the peak season. But, don’t let that prevent you from booking your stay.
To avoid overpriced rentals, plan out your trip months in advance. I was able to find the perfect vacation rental that fits my overall vibe for a decent price. Don’t worry about finding a place to stay if you book early enough as there are over 500+ rentals to choose from.

Souvenir shops are littered throughout the island with each of them carrying different items that can only be found on Anna Maria Island. Seek out beautiful gifts by stopping in at Green Turtle Shell and Original Sand Dollar.
